   Obtain a shiny Charmander. There are multiple methods to doing so; among them are:

   • Have a game where you can get a Charmander, either as a starter or as a special Pokémon that you obtain, and soft reset (A+B+Start+Select on a Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or Game Boy Advance, and L+R+Start+Select on a DS or 3DS) until you get a shiny Charmander.
   • Breed for one. The easiest method is through the Masuda method, which gives you a higher chance of breeding a shiny Pokémon if the two Pokémon you breed with come from different countries.
   • (for X and Y) Find a Friend Safari with Charmander in it and go into it. Encounter Pokémon until you find a shiny Charmander.
   • Find one on the GTS and trade for it.

   Level the Charmander to level 16, in which it will evolve into Charmeleon.

  You have to breed to get a shiny Charmander. The best method for this, the Masada method, involves breeding two Pokémon, which are different languages. So either breed two Charmanders from different languages, breed a female Charmander from one language with a Pokémon from the same egg group with another language, or breed a Charmander with a Ditto that are from different languages. With the Shiny Charm, your odds are even higher.

• If playing the sixth generation games, give your Charizard a Charizardite X or Y to Mega Evolve it.

• In 6th generation games, you have a higher chance of encountering shiny Pokémon (1/4096 compared to the previous 1/8192).

• To make encountering shiny Pokémon easier, activate the Shiny Charm, which you get after completing the National Pokédex.

• Having the Oval Charm, which you get after completing the Kalos Pokédex, will give you a better chance of getting eggs.

• Having a Pokémon with the Flame Body or Magma Armor ability in the front of your party will make hatching eggs quicker.

• In sixth generation games, use the Hatching Power O-Power to make hatching eggs quicker. Use it more to get a higher level Hatching Power. Each Hatching Power level increases the speed at which eggs hatch.

• In second generation games, breeding a female Charmander with a compatible shiny Pokémon will give you a 1/64 chance of hatching a shiny Charmander. The easiest way to do this is through getting a shiny Ditto; the method of which can be seen in this video.
