Enchanting is one of the most important aspects of the game that can give the players a variety of effects or even make them incredibly strong. This is done through the use of Enchanting tables or Enchanted Books that the players can use to magically pour powers into the item that you want.
The Enchantments can be divided into various parts and these can be offensive, defensive or even special effects. The Looting falls in the last category and we discuss all its uses.
Minecraft Looting
The Minecraft Looting enchantment is a special enchantment that can give the players increased chances of drops from monsters and mobs that the players kill.

Players can enchant their Swords with this Enchantment and it cannot be used on any other tools, weapons or armor items. Swords are the main melee weapon that the players can make in the game. Any sword from wooden to Netherite, can be enchanted with the Looting enchantment.
It can be found in Enchanting Tables, Chests with Enchanted Books or even from swords found in chests that may already be enchanted.
Uses and effects
Looting is primarily used in getting an increased number of items from monsters and mobs that the player may kill with their enchanted Sword.
It increases the chance of common drops by 1 and uncommon drops are also increased. The chance for rare drops and equipment drops are also considerably increased. Chances for drops are increased according to the levels of the enchantment.
The Minecraft Looting Enchantment has the following level:
- Looting I
- Looting II
- Looting III
One of the lesser known facts about this enchantment is that, players can have the looting item in their main hand to get the drop. This means the players can kill them with a bow and then quickly switch the looting sword to the main hand to get the drop.
The Looting Enchantment does not work when:
- Mobs that drop nothing
- Withers, Iron and Snow golems
- Fish drops
- Sponge drop
- Wool Drop from sheep
- Totem of Undying drops from evokers
